Rickmansworth Canal Trip

We have had a very busy week , but fun week! On Wednesday we visited Batchworth Lock Canal Centre in Rickmansworth. We learnt that canals are man made. We helped to open the lock gates to let the canal boats through. The gates were heavy to push and pull.
We dressed up as Victorian children and did some washing using a washboard and dolly. The dolly helped to get the clothes clean.
We saw a very old working wooden canal boat called The Roger. It was so tiny inside! There was a pull down bed which everyone had to sleep in and a tiny "cupboard" for the baby to sleep.
We went on a boat trip along the canal and found out that in the olden days a horse would pull the boat using a rope by walking along the towpath.
In English we have been sequencing the day on the canal and using this to help write a recount.

In Maths we have been learning about multiplication. We have been practising to count in 2's, 5's and 10's to help with this.

In Computing we have been learning to insert a picture into a word document using the laptops.

In Dance we have been practising our May Dance with our partners.

We have been learning about the different food groups in PSHE and why we need certain  foods to keep us healthy.

This week our Learning Owl is Emily  who has been challenging herself with her writing. Well done . Have fun with Snowy!
