Assembly and School Fair

We hope you all enjoyed our assembly this morning, Mrs Bentley and Mrs Orchard were very proud of our speaking and sharing our learning so confidently. We really enjoyed reciting the poem and singing the kite song.

We  have had a very busy week as on Tuesday we had a visit from the Herts Air Ambulance which landed on the school field. It was very noisy but also very exciting.

In maths we have been learning about time thinking very carefully about the position of the minute and hour hand on o'clock and half past the hour. We have also been thinking about position and rotation. We have been using maths words , such as a quarter turn, half turn , clockwise and anti clockwise.

We hope to see many of you at the school fair tomorrow. There will be lots of fun stalls including a tombola, raffle, BBQ and we can buy the wind chimes which we have decorated.

Our Learning Owl this week is Mehdi who has been persevering with his learning. Well done Mehdi have fun with Snowy.

World Wind and Green Day

We celebrated World Wind Day on Thursday by making pinwheels, number fact kites, blow painting and using construction kits to make wind turbines and windmills. We had a fun session! We learnt that wind farms are built where it is hilly and they are used to make electricity. We also found out birds have different shaped wings or flying. A  vulture has a broad wing to help it hover in the air and a swallow has narrow wings to help it fly fast through the air.

In English we recited a poem by AA Milne about the wind and we hope to share this with you in our assembly in two weeks time. We used action to help us remember the poem.

In PSHE we have been thinking about caring for the environment.
Today is Green Day and we have been recycling clothes into different items for a fashion show next week.
Our Learning Owl is Oliver who has been trying so hard with his learning. Well done, have fun with Snowy.

Splash Dance

We have had a busy week. In maths we have been using the 100 square to practise adding and subtracting ten. We have been thinking about how many tens and how many ones there are in a number.

" 17 has 7 ones and 1 ten". Ben

"34 has 3 tens 4 ones" Finlay

We have been solving missing number problems.

In music we played the instruments using a score.

" A score is like the instructions for a tune". Austin

In Dance we are creating our own Splash Dance. We were thinking about moving slowing showing different ways to get into a swimming pool.

We practised skills for Sports day in our PE lesson.

On Friday it is Green Day and we can wear something green. We also need to bring into school an old t-shirt or a piece of clothing that we can reuse to make belts, bags, hats, tops etc.

Our Learning Owl is harry T for persevering with his Design and Technology project. Well done Harry. Have fun with Snowy
